You probably haven’t heard of Clem Renouf.
But without his visionary leadership as the president of Rotary,
we would not be talking about the eradication of polio within a year.
Through its PolioPlus program –
a global polio eradication initiative launched in 1985
– Rotary has contributed more than $1.5 billion
and countless volunteer hours to end polio.
They have been responsible for immunizing more than 2.5 billion children
(that’s more than one third of the people alive today!)
, and have played a role in advocating governments
to contribute more than 9$ billion to fight polio.
It goes without saying that Rotary is, and has been,
a major force in polio eradication.
Without them we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Around the Clubs
Rotary Club of Mundaring
The Rotary Club of Mundaring Sunday Market’s Tenth Anniversary.
The most recent Rotary Sunday Market in Mundaring
marked the tenth year of its operation.
The proceeds of the markets over that ten years has enabled the club
to donate an average of some $30,000 each year
to local groups and individuals as well as to state,
national and international charitable causes.
Not forgetting our commitments to Rotary International.
The markets create a lot of work for members,
particularly for our market coordinator David Brockway,
but the rewards make it all worthwhile!
David was able to trawl his records to discover
that there are ten stallholders who have attended regularly
for whole time and are still with us,
and many more how have been loyal marketeers
for a very large percentage of the ten years.
